The Lambda method is a systematic and interdisciplinary approach to artistic education co-developed by piano pedagogue Dr. Angela Chan and concert artist Dr. Wonny Song. Equipped with a diverse background in psychological research, education and musical performance, Chan and Song recognize the importance of implementing a progressive educational approach pertinent to the 21st century in North America. The Lambda Method is an innovative approach which:
(1) Incorporates the most up-to-date findings in psychological, and developmental research to create an optimal learning experience 2) Seeks to unleash artistic potential within every student
(3) Offers a repertoire selection which includes familiar music that is relevant and interesting to learners to boost enthusiasm and develop keenness
(4) Maintains a flexible approach suited to specific needs and goals of each learner
(5) Provides students with a clear purpose and a sense of accomplishment.
(6) Monitors and measures progress in a friendly and supportive manner
(7) Helps students develop artistic personalities by helping them seek their own creative voices
(8) Encourages critical thinking skills and artistic independence
(9) Embraces diversity and creative expression.
(10) Uses the process of artistic learning to complement cultural and personal development
(11) Assesses accomplishment through personal development rather than external recognition.
* Lambda Method publications and repertoire series are constantly updated to maintain interest in learners. Musical repertoire is supplemented with CDs, videos and downloadable files with suggestive practice guidelines.
* The Lambda method will be implemented by members from the Lambda faculty comprising of a team of dedicated and accomplished artists with a wealth of teaching experience. They all share the common goal of nurturing students through inspiration and encouragement.
